Okay, so I got fired/voluntarily let go of my job. What was my job? I was a manager at a pseudo-high end fondue restaurant in Downtown K-ville. (If you need something more specific, do some research. There's only one fondue restaurant in Knoxville.) The really ironic thing is that I never asked for the job or even wanted it. The restaurant's owner asked me to manage there after I had worked for him for a number of years at his bother-in-law's bar. I was happy at the bar, if not a little bored. But at least I was happy there and worked there for a good while.
I was never happy at the fondue place.
I suppose it was a mix of multiple factors -- I never really liked working in a corporate typle of restaurant. I had no problems working with the employees, but never really liked most of them. That wasn't a huge deal, the place bled an employee a week pretty much either for people quitting suddenly or someone getting fired. Hey, that's the restaurant business I know, it is what it is. The thing is at most places that I've worked at I was able to create a team, a set of people who when put together could get so much more accomplished than they could alone. I never had that at the fondue place and never felt at home there.
Anyhow, this blog is just a basic place for me to vent/rant and post little ditties I find interesting. Being unemployed, I guess I need a new hobby. Oh, and if you're a restaurant/bar owner looking for an experienced manager, please feel free to hit me with an email.
